Our organisation

At the MHP, we bring together researchers and people with lived experience of SMI across the UK

How do we work together?

Watch this video to find out more about how the platform is organised.

Hubs and Leadership Team

We are six hubs: five challenge-led research programmes and one mental health data science hub, all located in different institutions across the UK. Each Hub is led by at least one Principal Investigator, an expert in their field.

The Principal Investigators come together regularly to discuss the platform. They form the leadership team, along with the Mental Health Platform director.

PPIE Steering Group and PPIE Network

The research at the Hubs is also guided by people with lived experience of severe mental illness.

Lived experience representatives from each of the Hubs also come together regularly to discuss the platform. They form the Mental Health Platform Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (or PPIE) Steering Group.

This group informs the Leadership Team, with a steering group representative present at the Leadership Team meetings.

People with lived experience also support the platform as part of the Mental Health Platform PPIE Network. This is a community who contribute their expertise to specific activities. Members of the Network might be part of a Hub, or might be external to the platform. You can find out more about the PPIE Network on our website.
