About DATAMIND
DATAMIND is the mental health data science hub of the Mental Health Platform. It’s a multi-site data organisation which has been a resource for researchers, the NHS, charities, policy makers and industry since 2021, and is now one of the six Hubs of the MHP.
DATAMIND is coordinated from Swansea University and led by Professor Ann John and Professor Robert Stewart.
FAIR Data
One of the roles of DATAMIND is to look after, and work to improve, large and complex sources of information about mental health. The data includes genomics, healthcare records, routine care, cohorts and trials from across the UK population. At DATAMIND, the team work to index and curate data for research, development and innovation making it Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR). The data can only be accessed by safe and trusted parties.
The five other hubs of the Mental Health Platform will be able to access existing data from DATAMIND, and add their own as it’s generated. The platform can bring together, curate and make important new information available to the wider research community.
How do people with lived experience work with the Hub?
The DATAMIND team developed the Super Research Advisory Group (SRAG), a group of people with lived experience of mental illness. This group works with the wider DATAMIND team, with members of their communities and the public to develop new ways people can work together on mental health. The group involves people from a range of ages, geographical locations, and ethnic backgrounds to reflect diversity of people affected by mental health.
